MY APPROACH TO COACHING AND CONSULTING

In more than 20 years as programme officer, project manager, and human resources executive in Germany and abroad I came across many applicants, colleagues, fellow managers, and external consultants. And of course, I have sat on the other side of the table, as a job seeking candidate trying to cope with more or less professional selection procedures and recruiting systems. This has given me quite some insight into the concepts, mechanics, and variations of the “hiring game”.

Based on my experience I have worked out my own toolbox and learning paths for organizations and individuals I have the pleasure and privilege to advise, coach, mentor, and help to manage their business day-to-day and beyond.

As the enthusiastic and competitive tennis player that I have been for a long time I also learned a lot about myself, my personality, and some analogies between how I play my sport and how I approach my work. As a baseline player I want to stay in control of the game, see the whole playing field, anticipate what’s going to happen next, and prepare for it. And when it gets complicated or tough – don’t give up! Finally, both sport and work should be fun, because if it is fun, we are more motivated, creative, and productive.
